Real Shoes

Sometimes we like to put funny hats on the girls. And sometimes we like to put them in really cute skirts and outfits. Yesterday before we all went to the park to play, we just happened to stumble upon all those things fitting together. And the girls even wore big girl pink shoes!

Back in Action!

I've been a bit distracted lately preparing for a big expedition, but I completed the Rainier Triple Threat this past weekend and am now back to focusing on fun-filled days with the girls. Here is a fun picture of the girls helping us get packed for the beach trip last week. They travel well. The Triple Threat went well, though I missed the girls and Kirsten a lot. Kirsten's Mom and Dad came down for the weekend to help out too, so that was super helpful and made my being gone much easier.

Coast to Coast

The girls have now been on their first plane voyage! Mommy, Daddy, Annabelle, and Katherine all packed up and took to the skies last Friday morning (Lucy went to summer camp). We flew to BWI and met up with my parents and my brother and our 5 nieces and nephews for a really fun-filled few days on the beach in Delaware. It was a great trip, and we navigated our way through traveling with twin 6month old babies pretty well I think. I'll post more photos and details soon, but here are a few teasers for now of our time at the beach.

Annabelle Peekaboo

Katherine's now got the hang of Peekaboo. Here's Mommy teaching Annabelle how things work;

Pink Dresses and the Zoo

It's been a really crazy week already, but the sun finally returned to Seattle yesterday, so the girls got out of their winter clothes and into some proper summer dresses and off to the zoo we went! We actually didn't even see a single animal this time- we just played in the grass under the shade of a tree and enjoyed being outside.

Peas and Carrots

Well, we haven't actually introduced carrots to the girls yet, but they're all over the peas (or peas are all over them as you can see on Annabelle...). These are just some quick pics from yesterday. It was cold and rainy in Seattle, so no Sunday dresses for church this time, but we put them in these cute little matching sweatsuits instead. Another great weekend for sure, despite the lack of sun!

SeeSamGoToSAM

I fortunately remembered that yesterday was the first Thursday of August, which means that many museums in Seattle offer free admission for the day! So after a very warm and sunny run, the girls and I packed up and headed downtown to check out the SAM (Seattle Art Museum). We cruised through every gallery at a high rate of speed, but took in lots of fun things, and the cool AC felt nice. There was a special exhibit about Kurt Cobain's life, which was interesting to see, and was the site of the girls' favorite installation. While they seemed to get a kick out of the large black mouse sculpture, they were thrilled with a dark room where they were playing old home movies of Kurt Cobain performing with Nirvana. The three of us danced to good Seattle grunge music in there for a while, then we hit the road for home. With heads full of art and culture, we all crashed hard on the ride home (except me fortunately).

6 Month Birthday!

Today the girls are officially 6 months old! It's hard to believe they're already halfway to being 1, but they just keep growing and the months keep ticking by. We've been busy as usual lately. I was off climbing a remote mountain last weekend and Kirsten had more than a full day all by herself with both girls (i.e., morning, day, and putting them to bed, etc.... a BIG job), and she actually had a lot of fun. We've also introduced pureed bananas now, which has been interesting. Annabelle is really into it, and Katherine's warming up to them now too, but they're both still figuring the spoon thing out. This new addition has definitely led to more work in the diaper department. In other news, Annabelle made it through a full night's sleep a few nights ago (11ish hours). Katherine's been doing this for quite some time, but it was a real breakthrough for Annabelle. Unfortunately she hasn't repeated this feat since, but at least we know she can now, and she will hopefully make it a more frequent activity.
