On Monday, Kirsten and the girls went up to a friend's house on Whidbey Island for the day and I worked like a demon at home on a video project. Looks like they had more fun;It's been another great, busy week and today the girls and I went to the zoo. After checking on our animal friends, we had story time in the grass. The girls loved it... and then passed out on the car ride home.

Feedin' Time
Well, we've been trying rice cereal for a few weeks now with the girls. Apparently they use the term "cereal" very loosely on the label. If you haven't tried it before, it's this flaky powder that you mix with breast milk that basically just thickens the milk up a little. Nothing like our version of cereal, but I guess this is the first step to getting babies used to spoon eating. So, our attempts thus far haven't been going great by any means, but the girls are both somewhat open to the idea and I think will come around. We're trying to give rice cereal a whirl at least once a day at this point to get them more used to the spoon. They like the spoon, but the rice cereal maybe not so much.

Farmer's Market Friday
This evening after Mommy got home from work, the whole fam went out to our neighborhood farmer's market to stock up on some yummy fresh fruits and vegetables. Here are a few pics of the girls with some of their finds (Katherine has the onions, Annabelle has the squash). It's been a whirlwind of a week! I was in NYC last weekend for a friend's wedding, then came home and immediately got sick. So I've been under the weather all week, and also had a cool video job for which I was shooting 2 full days, so fortunately our Aunt Amy and Tante Kire were able to help out with the girls this week, but hard to believe it's already Friday. I'm feeling better now, and the girls seem healthy, so we're very thankful. We're all looking forward to a restful weekend!

Annabelle and the Exersaucer
Annabelle is in love with the exersaucer. She concentrates really hard and spins the spinny things, and kicks her legs, and is totally happy to stay there until she wears herself out and her head starts to bob. Here are some clips of the first time we put her in it last week;

Why run so far, Dad?
Summer finally arrived in Seattle, and the girls seem to be enjoying the warm air and getting to roll around in nothing but diapers most of the time. This morning after a beautiful run overlooking the Olympic Mts., the girls were very curious about why on earth I might have the compulsion to run 100 miles. I tried (to no avail) to convince them of the many intangible joys and benefits of completing such a run. However, they weren't buying it and were certain there had to be some prize or something one actually receives for running such a distance. So I showed them the few small finishers awards from the Bighorn 100 and let them play with them. Katherine was nonplussed by the large rock, but Annabelle was quite pleased with the taste of the sleek, shimmery jacket.

Sisterly Love
This week has been a whirlwind! The girls have been a bit more fussy than normal and we think it's a result of their vaccination shots on Monday. They always tend to be less happy in the days after getting shots. But, as you can see in these pics from this morning, there are still plenty of smiles and the girls very sweetly try to comfort each other by holding hands or arms or feet or whatever's in reach.
Annabelle is really into her feet these days- reaching up and playing with them and every once in a while finding one in her mouth. Katherine is busy too, and managed a spectacular rollover from back to front yesterday and then right back to her back again. We have no big plans for the 4th, but are looking forward to a relaxing family weekend (and no more shots for a long time!).
