Friday Picture Time

Here are some pictures from yet another zoo trip that we took last week with Tante Kire.  The orangutan was on the other side of his yard, and when he saw the girls through the window, he got up and came right up to us to say hi.  It was pretty amazing.  It's been a busy week, as I'm preparing for the annual 12 hour race I put on every year (Carkeek 12 Hour).  It takes place tomorrow and the girls are excited to wear their costumes and cheer on runners too.

Birthday Weekend

 My 30th birthday was this weekend and we had lots of fun celebrating.  The girls loved helping me unwrap some presents.  Here are a few pictures from our weekend festivities.  On Sunday evening we went to some friends' house for a pumpkin carving party and the girls gave their new Halloween costumes a test drive.  Katherine is not excited about being a bunny, but Annabelle seems to enjoy being a puppy (as long as her paws aren't on...).  The other pics are from an amazing family trip to the zoo yesterday.  It was cold and grey and the zoo was literally empty.  It was as if we'd rented out the whole zoo just for ourselves, and many of the animals were out and very active.  Kirsten and I stayed warm with hot cocoa.  Annabelle and Katherine stayed warmed snuggling on our tummies. 

Trail Time

Here are some photos of the fam a few evenings ago.  We did a loop (2 miles) with the girls and my brother in our favorite park right by our house and soaked in a glorious sunset.  The girls are so peaceful in the outdoors and they just absolutely love it.

Toothy Grin

It's official- Katherine has 2 teeth now!  They're little, but they've broken through and they are mighty sharp.  Annabelle is showing all the teething signs and certainly won't be far behind now. 

Happy Friday

Yesterday the girls and I were on the go a lot on a beautiful fall day in Seattle.  They wore their overalls for the first time and we played out in the grass a bit soaking in the sunshine.  They're happy in these shots even though they're kind of frowning... the sun was in their eyes. 

Katherine has 2 bottom teeth that have popped out now and Annabelle probably isn't too far behind. The girls are sitting fairly well now too and seem like they're going to crawl any day now.  We're looking forward to a fun weekend with Uncle Dan (my brother) in town.

Katherine Goes Gardening

Yesterday Katherine went out to pick some carrots in our backyard garden.  She found it to be quite hilarious, which we in turn found to be quite hilarious.  The carrots were tasty though.

I think Katherine may be laughing at how small our wee homegrown carrots are, but I'm pretty sure she's just enjoying gardening with Mommy.  Probably a little of both.

Soaking in Some History... and Wearing Funny Hats

It seems like it's been October for a while already now, but I guess it really hasn't been that long as today was the first Thursday of the month... which means free museum day in Seattle!  Today the girls and I went to the Burke Museum on the UW campus.  Its focus is on natural history and there was a special exhibit on textiles.  The girls thought it was pretty cool and were awake for the whole visit, but no photos were allowed inside, so I just snapped these on the way out.

While I'm on the topic of funny hats, here are some older shots I took of the girls and Tante Kire having a hat party.  Tante and another good friend babysat last night actually and Kirsten and I had a fun night out on the town downtown and went to a concert.  Anyway, these hat pics are from July... (the girls are much littler).

Family Zoo Trip

Yesterday the whole family (minus Lucy...) went to the zoo on a beautiful crisp fall day.  Annabelle and Katherine turned 2/3 year old yesterday!  We had a great trip, and although we had big plans to play in the grass and read stories after we visited some animals, the girls got pretty worn out so Mom and Dad just relaxed in the sun and grass for a little bit while the girls napped. 

Back to the Zoo

With the girls getting their first cold recently, daddy off doing adventures, and just the general craziness of day to day life, it's been a while since the girls and I made it to the zoo to check on all our animal friends.  We've had some great weather this week and everyone's pretty healthy these days, so we took a trip to the zoo yesterday afternoon.  Annabelle passed on nap time to check everything out while Katherine passed out.  The girls were happy to see their friends again and I'm sure we'll be back again very soon.
